It can be a specially designed place in the house, in their workplace, or at school. This is where they can go to feel safe and calm. This small but mighty item can save your loved one from feeling overwhelmed.
Takiwatanga is the Maori word for Autism and means ‘His or her own time and space’. We felt this was such a lovely way of describing the condition that we had to add it to our product range.
It’s amazing to learn that this word was only added to the Maori language in 2017 as explained here.
Handmade With Love
This lovely keyring has a jigsaw cut out, the traditional symbol for Autism recognised the world over and is hand stamped with ‘Takiwatanga’ using our Piece by Piece. Below this is the meaning ‘His or Her own time and space’ in our mini font.
You could also add a name to the bottom of the keyring to make this that little bit special.
This kerying measures approximately 50mm x 25mm and is made from aluminium.

What is Metal Stamping?
When metal stamping, each letter, number and design stamp is placed onto the metal blank and then gently hit with a hammer to leave an impression in the metal that can then be coloured.
Each metal that we use comes with its own unique challenges as they are all different densities. Using several different style fonts and design stamps can create unique and special gifts for all occasions.
Done by hand, some of the characters might be out of line giving the product a unique look but that is part of the joy of them being handcrafted!
